We were first introduced to Family Cornerstones when my daughter, Miranda, was in elementary school. A friend told us about a program called Transitions. We decided to attend this six-week program and it was an AMAZING experience! Miranda and I learned how to communicate better and be more open with each other. Participating in Transitions made us a stronger family. At the end of Transitions we were told about the Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (ITLT) program. Miranda wanted to participate in the program but she is extremely shy. She was anxious and afraid of attending but we gave it a try. Throughout this year, with the encouragement of Ms. Layla and Ms. Kim, my daughter has blossomed! ITLT focuses on developing leadership skills and getting the students involved in the community. Not only has Miranda volunteered at many events, but now she even volunteers as a mentor to a younger student at her school. Through the Family Cornerstones programs Miranda has gained confidence and is able to show the world what a loving person she is, just the way God intended. In February we had the opportunity to attend the Transitions Booster session and learn more skills to strengthen our relationship with each other. I have even gotten more involved by volunteering to serve on the Family Cornerstones Board of Directors. I’m excited about this opportunity to share our story with others. Family Cornerstones has given so much to my family.
Your gift means families in our community will continue receiving the support they need to become successful- providing a better life for themselves, their children and future generations.
